NOTE: The reading assignments are generally not lengthy. Many of them, however, are very dense, and the language and rhetorical form may be unfamiliar to you. Give yourself ample time to read and to take careful notes. The headnotes available for each author in the text are very helpful and you are encouraged to make use of them. You are expected to read the entire selection under the main heading unless otherwise indicated.
